There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. We hope you enjoy our site and take a moment to drop us a line. When you love a community, you want it to thrive!
In the spring of 2015, the Executive Director, and Founder of UE, consulted with Penn-North Community Association's President (Ms. Annie Hall, a lifelong resident) to determine if this historic neighborhood would benefit from UE's violence prevention after-school programs.
That would be a "yes" from Ms. Hall. Throughout the years, UE's out-of-school-time programs and activities have consistently provided well-structured, no-cost-to-parents activities for this well-deserved and under-invested community. Our students have received paid internships, new career paths opportunities, free summer camps, recipient of the City of Baltimore's "Change Maker" award for contributions to promoting non-violence, civic engagement events with the Mayor's Office, raising funds to provide medical services and equipment to the children of Burundi, Africa, volunteering at HBCU (Coppin State University) "Shirts vs. Skins" Basketball Tournament, private tours with some of Baltimore's iconic institutions, and community service activities. Fulton Baptist Church, Pratt Library, Gethsemane Baptist Church, and Coppin State University have facilitated our programs for the past six years. Presently, we are excited to have the opportunity of building a permanent home that will accommodate the goals, mission, and vision of UE. The picture above depicts August 17, 2018. One day UE purchased three vacant lots that have been a blight to the Penn-North Community. We will eradicate the blight with a new center that will bring new jobs and a safe place for the children to gather when they are out of school. UE has made new friends, cultivated sustainable relationships, collaborated with stakeholders, and built trust among the parents, community leaders, and the private sector. Our students speak for us. We invite you to visit our photo gallery and meet our kids. We also invite you to help us attain our capital improvement project's completion: Our cornerstone is our sincere love of community.
